In Colombia, one of the most senior leaders of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (Farc) has been killed. The Colombian army said Jorge Briceno, also known as Mono Jojoy, had died in combat. Jojoy was believed to be leader of Farc's military operations. The United States had offered a reward of up to five million dollars for information leading to his arrest or conviction. It comes a few days after guerrilla leader, Sixto Cabana, was shot dead along with 27 other rebels near the Ecuador border. The Marxist Farc rebels have been fighting the Colombian authorities since the mid-1960s.
