One more arrest in multi-crore UP NRHM scam

In Uttar Pradesh, the Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested one more person in connection with alleged multi crore National Rural Health Mission NRHM scam in the state. Our correspondent reports that he has been identified as Vivek Jain a relative of Saurabh Jain, a medical supplier jailed in connection with the scam.Air Lucknow correspondent reports that Vivek Jain has been arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in the procurement of medical equipment under the Mission. He was allegedly involved in bagging a contract worth over 4 crore and making over-valued supplies under the scheme thus causing a loss of over 1 crore 50 lakhs to the exchequer. The agency has already filed its three separate charge sheets in the case against 14 persons including former Director General of Family Welfare Dr. S P Ram. The Enforcement Directorate has begun identifying assets of the accused in the NRHM scam for attachment under the provisions of money laundering laws. The agency had recently registered 14 separate cases against former UP family Welfare Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha, former BSP MLA RP Jaiswal and others in the alleged financial irregularities.
