One million youngsters to benefit from Olympic Refuge Foundation plan

In recognition of the opportunity that Refugee Olympic Team provide to the most vulnerable people around the world to access sport and thrive in all aspects of their lives, the Princess of Asturias Foundation announced that it has awarded its 2022 Award for Sports to the Olympic Refuge Foundation and the IOC Refugee Olympic Team. The Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF), young people through sport, worldwide. Earlier in March 2016, the IOC President Thomas Bach announced the creation of the Refugee Olympic Team, as &quot;a symbol of hope for all refugees in the world&quot; to &quot;make the world better aware of the magnitude of this crisis. AIR Correspondent reports that the Foundation aims to provide access to safe sport for one million young people affected by displacement by 2024.<br />” &nbsp;<br />”Working in cooperation with the Olympic Movement, the United Nations, international organisations, the private sector, non-governmental organisations and other foundations, the Foundation has supported 12 programmes in eight countries: Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, Rwanda, Turkey and Uganda, and new programmes will be launched shortly in Colombia and France. The Foundation aims to provide access to safe sport for one million young people affected by displacement by 2024. Currently, up to 200,000 young people already benefit from sports programmes designed to improve their well-being and social inclusion.
