In Jammu and Kashmir one militant was killed during an encounter with security forces in Poonch district of Jammu region on Wednesday morning.<br/><br/>According to official sources, acting on a specific information about the presence of a group of militants in Chhunga forest area of Mendhar in Poonch district, security forces laid cordon of the forest area late last evening.<br/><br/>Finding themselves trapped, militants started indiscriminate firing on the Security Forces from 4 a.m on Wednesday which was returned effectively.<br/><br/>In the ensuing encounter one militant was killed at about 8 a.m . Firing from both the sides was going on when the reports last came in. The identity of the slain militant has not been ascertained yet. Further details are awaited.
