The Central Government has sanctioned one lakh houses under Rajiv Awas Yojana to Karnataka in the coming year.The Housing Minister in the state V Somanna informed this in Bangalore today. He said this will free Karnataka from slums, which are more than 2700 in number. He said that quality houses with most essential facilities will be built for slum dwellers under Rajiv Awas Yojana thereby benefiting around 40 lakh people.He informed that the state Cabinet has approved a policy on the issue of ownership rights to slum dwellers and development of slums situated on public and private lands.
