One killed in Maoist attack in W Bengal

One villager was killed in cross firing between Maoist and the Joint Forces in the Sakrail area of West Midnapore district of West Bengal. The Officer In Charge of Sakrail police station, Mr. Uttam Debnath and 18 other police personnel were injured in the encounter. Uttam Debnath’s condition is said to be serious. I.G. West Zone Mr. Zulfikar Hasan informed the media that, the forces raided a place in Chunapara after tip-off that some Maoist have gathered there. The Maoist started firing at the sight of police men and the AK47 rifle was snatched from Mr. Debnath. Seven villagers are reported to have been injured in the encounter.
