One killed, 60 injured in Andhra police firing

In Andhra Pradesh, at least one person died and 60 others injured when police opened fire on agitating crowd at Sompet in Srikakulam District. <br/><br/>Police opened fire after the protest demonstration by hundreds of people turned violent. District officials said the victim has been identified as Krishna Murthy belonged to Lakkavarapu Kota village.<br/><br/>Among the injured, the condition of two persons has reportedly been serious. The injured including 12 Policemen and 5 media persons have been admitted to Somepet Government hospital. About 10 police vehicles were a burnt by the agitators. <br/><br/>Tension prevailed at Sompet with hundreds of agitating people involving in stone pelting after police indulged in lathi-charge. They have gathered to protest against land acquisition and setting up of a Thermal Power Plant at Sompet.
