One Indian woman killed and 9 injured in continuous ceasefire violation by Pakistan along Indo-Pak border; Exchange of fire still on

In Jammu and Kashmir the intermittent exchange of fire in Samba and Hiranagar sectors along the Indo-Pak international border is still going on. So far the firing and shelling from the Pakistan side has left a woman dead and at least nine other civilians injured. The woman who succumbed to injuries in at Samba hospital had got injured along with her son when a mortar shell from Pakistan pounded her house in Rajpura area around 11 am this morning.

Some of the seriously injured have been shifted to GMC hospital in Jammu. According to BSF sources, the latest round of firing started around 7: 30 am this morning, which was going on when the last reports came in. Civil and Police administration has been carrying out the rescue and relief operation in the firing affected villages. Relief camps have been established in safer places and affected people are being evacuated.

As the firing and shelling is intermittently going on special vehicles with bunkers are used to carry out the evacuation. People from some of the border areas have started to migrate to safer places on their own also. Pakistan forces had resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and heavy firing targeting forward posts and civilian areas around 9;30 pm Friday night. The exchange of fire had come to halt around 3a.m. After few hours lull the forces from across the border again resorted to heavy firing and shelling this morning. The BSF troops guarding the border have been giving a befitting reply to the Pak shelling and firing.
