Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today said a single election to all local bodies, co-operatives and other machineries of a state can be tried as a start. <br/><br/>He was speaking at the symposium, One Nation One Election, organized by India foundation, centre for constitutional and legal studies, he said that one election for a nation may progress the idea of a single nationhood.<br/><br/>Former chief election commissioner S Y Quraishi said that one nation one election should be taken up as electoral reform. <br/><br/>Mr. Quraishi also said that the idea is not new and the concern for one election has been flagged by all political parties and moreover, perpetual elections remind the people of their caste and community. <br/><br/>Endorsing his views, Shakti Sinha, Director, Nehru memorial museum, said a nationwide debate on the issue is the need of the hour and he urged younger generation to take keen interest in politics. <br/><br/>The symposium was organized to invite views from various corners and to create awareness among public and younger generation.
