The Assam Government has decided to convene a one-day special session of the State Legislative Assembly on the 17th of the next month to discuss the India-Bangladesh land deal signed in Dhaka recently. This was disclosed by the State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Nilmoni Sen Deka while speaking to our Guwahati Correspondent. He said the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) which met in Guwahati yesterday has decided to send party Legislators in batches to see the international border with Bangladesh and see the run-of-water power generation projects in the neighbouring countries so that they can take active part in debates on such issues in the Assembly session. He said the ruling Congress Party has accepted the demand of the opposition for convening the special State Assembly session to discuss the issue.Earlier, the three major opposition parties- Asom Gana Parishad, All India United Democratic Front and the Bharatiya Janata Party had placed a demand before the State Governor Janaki Ballav Patnaik for a detailed discussion on the land deal signed between both the countries.
