The Press Information Bureau, Government of India, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shillong, in coordination with the State Information and Public Relation Department and Press Club Shillong, organised a one day Media Workshop (Vartalap) for Information Dissemination on GST at Hotel Poinisuk, Shillong.<br/><br/>Secretary of Finance, Government of Meghalaya Sanjay Goyal who graced as the chief guest stated that with the implementation of Goods and Services Tax will bring a major change in the taxation system.<br/><br/>He said that consumer states like Meghalaya and other North Eastern States will benefit from the new tax regime which became operational earlier this month across the country. Positive outcome will be there in Meghalaya, he added.<br/><br/>During the technical session of the workshop, experts from GST (GOI) Shillong, Business Process and Meghalaya GST, Taxation Department Government of Meghalaya deliberated on every aspect of the Goods and Services Tax.<br/><br/>All the experts opined that the new tax system which is destination based, will bring transparency and accountability which will further enhance the benefits of all section of the society.
