One day left to elect PM, Nepal still uncertain

In Nepal, with just a day left for the sixth round of voting to elect a new Prime Minister on Sunday, uncertainty continues on ending the current political impasse. CPN(UML), who abstained from voting in the past five rounds of polling, had decided not to support any of the two contesting candidates in Sunday’s polling although the party had floated a seven point proposal to arrive at a consensus and resolve the political deadlock. United Democratic Madhesh Front – comprising four Tarai based parties have not yet decided their stand in Sunday's re-polling although they remained neutral in the past five rounds of voting. Maoist Chairman Prachanda and Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Leader Ram Chandra Poudel are in fray for the sixth round of voting to elect a new Prime Minister on Sunday. Both the candidates failed to muster the simple majority required to get elected in the past five rounds of voting.
