One crore villagers have been made digitally literate: Ravi Shankar Prasad

Union Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that one crore villagers have been made digitally literate across the country. <br/><br/>Addressing a function in Guwahati yesterday, he said the government has set a target of making six crore villagers digitally literate. <br/><br/>Mr Prasad said the 'Common Service Centres (CSCs), performing various duties digitally in rural areas, have an important role in this regard. <br/><br/>He said, currently 2,892 CSCs are functioning in Assam, imparting services in Aadhaar Card, PAN Card etc involving digital expertise. <br/><br/>Out of these, 2,311 CSCs are working in gram panchayats. Across India, 10 lakh youths are working in such centres. These centres will also start selling fertilisers in coming days, he said.
