In Jammu and Kashmir, an Army jawan was killed and another was injured when militants fired at a patrolling party in the frontier district of Kupwara in Kashmir division today. According to official sources, militants attacked an Army patrolling party with automatic weapons at Baran Top in Kalaroos in Lolab, Kupwara in the wee hours today which left one Army Jawan dead and another injured.

The injured jawan was rushed to the hospital. Security forces also retaliated but the militants managed to escape. A massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants responsible for the attack. Army has been conducting search operations in this frontier district for the last fortnight, which has resulted in many encounters between security forces and militants. In these encounters, four soldiers and nine militants have been killed so far.
