ONDC to help 6 crore small traders and businesses to offer their products & services through online portals: Union Minister Piyush Goyal

Union Minister for Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal informed that Open Network for Digital Commerce, ONDC launched by his ministry will help six crore small traders and businesses to offer their products and services through online portals. He was addressing media persons in Bengaluru today on the sidelines of a workshop on Start-ups and Entrepreneurship: Vision India @2047. The buyers, sellers, payment platforms and logistics companies can make use of this open network. The customers will be able to order consumables in the local language. They can order food and groceries through ONDC portal.<br />'' <br />'' The Union Minister said that the Digital India programme by the Government has transformed India and the life of the common man. Last month alone 600 crore rupees worth of digital transactions were recorded in India.<br />'' <br />''Today we are the fifth biggest Economy in the world. When several other countries are facing rising inflation, in India the inflation rate is on the downward trend. Mr. Goyal said that the world has today recognised that India can power economic growth. The Minister said that Open Network for Digital Commerce online service will provide a level playing field to small traders against big companies that reach out to the customers through their portals.
