<span style="color: #222222;">Taking precautionary measures against the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID 19 in the country, Meghalaya Government has decided to re-impose some restrictions on gatherings of the public.<br />''<br />''Addressing a press briefing today after conducting a review meeting on the COVID situation in Shillong, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma stated that certain restrictions will be imposed from January 5th. He further said that there will be restrictions on the movement of private vehicles in Shillong city adding that the odd-even numbers will be made applicable in Shillong for private vehicles. Apart from those who are double vaccinated, people who are entering the State will be required to show a COVID 19 negative test certificate, conducted 72 hours before entering and if not they will be tested at the entry point.<br />''<br />''Chief Minister further informed that the night curfew will be re-imposed from 10:00 pm in Shillong city and in all the other districts.  He informed that the respective Deputy Commissioners will come up with the necessary order in this connection.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, Meghalaya reported two new COVID 19 cases and four recoveries in the last 24 hours. No death was reported. The total active cases now stand at 73, the total recovered cases are 83,292 and the total deaths are 1,484.</span><br />
