Omicron Variant: INSACOG calls for booster dose to people above 40, considers those at high risk as priority

<span style="color: #222222;">Indian Sars-Cov2 Genomics Sequencing Consortium INSACOG has stressed upon vaccination of all remaining unvaccinated at-risk people and consideration of a booster dose for those 40 years of age and over.<br />''<br />''In its weekly bulletin, INSACOG said, priority may be given to those who are at high risk or high exposure for the booster shot as they have a low level of antibodies.<br />''<br />''The bulletin said, genomic surveillance will be critical for early detection of the presence of Covid-19 variants, to enable necessary public health measures. It said, monitoring travel to and from the known affected areas and contact tracing of COVID-19 cases with an epidemiological link to the affected areas has been implemented along with increased testing across the country. </span><br />
