Omicron Sacre: West Bengal witnesses spike in covid 19 cases; CM Mamta hints closing of schools and colleges

In West Bengal, the number of Omicron cases jumped to 11 as five more samples were tested positive today for the new variant of Coronavirus. One among them has overseas travel history while four others are locals. An official of the State Health Department said, over 700 samples will be sent for genome sequencing tomorrow, and reports are expected within three to four days.<br />''<br />''Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked the officials to review the COVID situation in the state and identify containment zones in Kolkata. She also hinted at closing schools and colleges again, if the situation arises.
