Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has urged the Indian Railways to formulate projects for extending railway facilities to the border districts of Rajouri, Poonch and Kupwara, highlighting the need for this facility in these hilly districts for speedy economic development. In a meeting with the Chairman, Indian Railway Board, S. S. Khurana, who called on him along-with other officials, Omar said that railway facilities in hilly backward areas of the state is imperative to open up these areas for all round development and generation of wide ranging economic activities.The Chief Minister also underlined the need for speeding up the work on Katra-Qazigund railway Project to link the Jammu and Kashmir regions and complete the long cherished projects of greater economic importance for the State especially for the Kashmir valley. Mr. Khurana assured the Chief Minister that the Board will look into all aspects of extending railway to Rajouri, Poonch and Kupwara districts.
