Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has invited BJP leader Arun Jaitley and other party members to attend the republic day function either in Jammu or in Srinagar.Mr Omer spoke to Mr Jaitley last night after he and other BJP party workers were arrested for trying to enter the state Chief Minister also appealed to the people to defeat separatists plan to disrupt republic day celebrations. He said that there will be no compromise on law and order maintenance, maintaining his firm determination to foil every attempt aimed at disturbing peace in the state.State Police yesterday arrested 160 BJP and BJYM leader including Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Ananth Kumar, Anurag Thakur, BJYM president, Shanta Kumar and former Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh soon after they crossed into territory of Jammu and Kashmir at Lakhinpur for violation of prohibitory orders. Our correspondent reports that Anurag Thakur led ‘Ekta Yatra’ virtually culminated at Madhopur-Lakhanpur border as the BJP leadership decided not to take any confrontation or resort to violence by forcing their entry inside Lakhanpur when they were arrested by police amid tight security arrangements.
