Omar inspects construction of Migrant Township

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah today inspected the construction of Migrant Township at Jagti to assess the status of construction of flats and allied facilities. Mr. Omar inspected different blocks, interacted with the engineering and other officials and gave direction for fast tracking the works.Jagti Township near Nagrota envisages construction of 4218 two-room flats for Kashmiri Migrants, besides, facilities for 40-bedded hospital, one Higher Secondary School, one Middle School and two Community Halls. The work on the construction of flats is in the advanced stage and is likely to be completed by March 2010.Under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan, the ambitious project for constructing 5242 two-room flats for Kashmiri Migrants at a cost of 345 crore rupees was taken in hand which was finally revised to 385 crore rupees. Under the first phase, 1024 flats have already been constructed at Purkhoo, Muthi and Nagrota which already stand allotted to the beneficiaries while the remaining 4218 two – room flats at Jagti was launched in the second phase.
