Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has called for enhancing adventure sports activities in the State so as to rope in sports lovers and showcase the State’s potential universally. Stressing on organizing motor cycle rallies also in the State to provide opportunities to bikers to take part in adventure sports, Omar said that three motor rallies have already taken place in the State and another one is scheduled soon. He said that this clearly indicates the interest of motorists to travel on challenging routes in Jammu and Kashmir. The Chief Minister was speaking at the prize giving ceremony of the 13th Raid-De-Himalaya Motor Sports organized by The Tourism Department and Himalayan Motor Sports Association in Srinagar yesterday. The Motor Sports rally had started on October 9th and concluded yesterday. 160 teams including bike riders participated in the nine day ‘Raid’. Omar Abdullah said that the Kashmir Valley witnessed a good tourist season this year with more than 10 lakh visitors having visited the Valley till date. He expressed hope that next year’s tourist season will also be successful and asked the Tourism Department and organizations like the Himalayan Motor Sports Association to play an important role in this regard.
