Pistol Shooter Vijay Kumar has made it to the finals of the 25m Rapid Fire pistol event to be played in a short while from now. Vijay in the process also broke the Olympic record of 583 points. Vijay Kumar, who had scored 293 in the stage 1 of the qualification, scored 98, 97 and 97 in the second stage to take his total score to 585. Vijay finished fourth among the top six shooters who qualified for the final event. Russian shooter Alexei Klimov created a new World Record in Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Shooting qualifications. He scored a total of 592 after Stage 2 breaking the previous World Record of 591.
In 50 metre Rifle prone event, India's Joydeep Karmakar missed the bronze medal and had to settle at the fourth position with an overall score of 699.1
