Olymipian Suresh Babu is cremated with full state honours

In Kerala, Olympian Suresh Babu has been cremated with full state honours at Thiruvanathapuram this evening. He was brought to the state capital this afternoon from Ranchi where he passed away while attending the ongoing National Games yesterday. State ministers and large number of sports personalities like Shiny Wilson, K.M.Beenamol received the mortal remains of Suresh Babu at the airport.His body was also placed at the Central stadium where large number of sports lovers and people from all walks of life paid last respects to one of the most meritorious athletes of Kerala. Dominating the Indian athletic arena during 1970's, Suresh Babu had bagged medals in many international events including long jump gold in 1978 Bangkok Asian Games, bronze in the same event in the Common Wealth Games the same year and another bronze in decathlon during the Tehran Asian Games of 1974. Apart from many laurels at the national level, Suresh Babu was also recipient of Arjuna award in 1978-79.
