Hundreds of workers in northern China are trying to contain an oil leak that spilled thousands of litres of diesel into a major tributary of the Yellow river, the lifeline for drinking water for millions in the country. State media reports that after an accident on a construction site, about one hundred fifty thousand litres of diesel poured into the river from a fuel pipeline. Pollution from the spill has been reported up to 33 kilometres down stream. <br/>
