Oil prices rose slightly in Asia today on cautious hopes of a rise in energy demand in the United States. New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in June, added 21 cents to 89.39 dollar a barrel and Brent North Sea crude for June delivery gained 17 cents to 100.48 dollar in mid-morning trade.
