The Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, R P N Singh informed Rajya Sabha today that the oil marketing companies have demanded full compensation for the losses suffered by them. In a written reply, he said, in order to benefit the common man in view of the rise in international oil prices and inflation, the government continues to subsidize the retail selling prices of diesel, kerosene and LPG. This results in losses to the public sector oil marketing companies. He said, they are currently incurring under recovery of 13.91 rupees per litre on the sale of diesel, 31.49 rupees per litre on kerosene and 480.50 per 14.2 kg cylinder of domestic LPG.
