The Oil Industry has completed the implementation of cleaner and higher grade BS-III Petrol and Diesel in the entire country. This will considerably improve the air fuel quality in the nation. Bharat Stage (BS) emission standards are standards instituted by the Government to regulate the output of air pollutants. Terming this as a major landmark Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural gas, Mr Murli Deora said that over 32 thousand crore rupees have been invested to upgrade refineries to produce the higher quality fuel. The Auto Fuel Policy has prescribed a road map for introduction of BS-IV and BS-III grades of petrol and Diesel equivalent to European Euro-III and Euro-IV standards. Minister of State for petroleum and natural gas, Mr Jitin Prasad said that the new grades of petrol and diesel will considerably improve the air quality with reduction in emission of pollutants in fuels.
