Odisha is reeling under intense heatwave conditoin with mercury level increasing to 45 degree celsius and more in most parts of the state. The capital city Bhubaneswar and Talcher recorded 46.6 degree celsius, the highest in the state, today.Cities like Angul, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Hirakud, Bolangir, Titlagarh and Sonepur are also going through intense heatwave condition with maximum day temperatureshooting more than 45 degree celsius, breaking records of last few decades. Low voltage and undeclared power cuts have made lives miserable even as there is no sign of anyrespite from the scorching sun in the next few days. The Bhubaneswar Meterological office has predicted intense heatwave condition in the next 24 hours all over the state, while rain or thundershowers accompanied with wind speed from 60 to 70 km per hour are likely to occure at one or two places of Odisha.According to sources, more than 100 people have died in Odisha due to intense heatwave condition. The state government, however, has confirmed 30 deaths so far due to sunstroke.
