Odisha likely to experience heavy rainfall

Many parts of north Odisha are likely to experience very heavy rain fall in the next two days due to the depression over north Bay of Bengal, about 210 km from Balasore off Odisha coast. According to Bhubaneswar Meterological office, rain and thundershower would also occur at most places in Odisha with very heavy falls at some places over southern parts of the state in the next 24 hours. Strong and squally surface wind from north-westerly direction with speed reaching 45 to 55 km per hour would occur along Odisha coast. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea as the condition would be very rough. Local cautionary signal number three have been hoisted at all the ports of Odisha including Paradip and Gopalpur. The capital city of Bhubaneswar and most parts of Odisha have been experiencing rain since today morning. The depression is likely to move in north-westerly direction and cross West Bengal-Bangladesh Coast about 50 km East of Sagar Island by tonight.
