Odisha HC grants bail to top maoist leader Ganti

The Odisha High Court on Wednesday granted bail to top maoist leader Ganti Prasadam in a case relating to Semiliguda police station in Koraput district. Ganti, who was shifted from Koraput jail to Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar, believed to have played a crucial role in the negotiation between mediators and Odisha Government for the release of abducted Malkangiri collector R Vineel Krishna and junior engineer Pabitra Mohan Majhi. He was consulted twice inside the jail by the mediators during the talks. Ganti's release was one of the conditions put forward by the Maoists for release of Krishna and Majhi. The Odisha Government had agreed to withdraw a case in Semiliguda against Ganti and his bail petition was not opposed by the government lawyer.
