Odisha government halted operations at six coal mines of Coal India after its Environment clearance expired. The Odisha Director of Mines, Deepak Kumar Mohanti told reporters that they do not have the forest department clearance. Mining will not start until they get the forest clearance. Mr. Mohanti said state authorities asked the unit to halt operations this year but the mines were given a temporary reprieve by the Supreme Court.
