The Odisha Government has decided to negotiate with the Maoists who have abducted Malkangiri district magistrate and collector R V Krishna. Odisha Home Secretary U.N Behera on Thursday told All India Radio at Bhubaneswar that anti-Maoist operations have been asked to halt across the State. He also said Maoists are being given open invitation for diolgue with the Government either at Malkangiri or at Home Department in the Odisha Secretariat at Bhubaneswar.Maoists have given 48-hour deadline to the Odisha Government to stop anti-maoist operation immediately and release of jailed maoists in liue of freeing Krishna.Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also appealed the ultras to free the IAS officer as he has been serving the poor people of Maoist-affected Malkangiri district. The Maoists have abducted Krishna and another junior engineer since last everning from the hilly terrains of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri when both were coming back after attending a public health camp. This is the most audacious act of the red-ultras when for the first time one IAS officer has been abducted in Odisha.Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress and BJP have slammed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for failing to act on the issue and surrendering before the Maoists. They stalled the Odisha Legislative Assembly for eight times on Thursday and demanded resignation over the poor state of law and order situation.
