Odisha govt pegs loss due to cyclone Yaas at Rs 610 crore

Odisha Government has estimated the total loss due to cyclone Yaas at 610 crore rupees. It includes 520 crore rupees worth of loss to public infrastructure. This was revealed in a review meeting by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in capital Bhubaneswar yesterday.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already announced a financial assistance of 500 crore rupees to Odisha after he reviewed the situation and had an aerial survey of the affected areas on 28th of last month. AIR correspondent reports, the cyclone had impacted a whooping 60 lakh people in about 11,000 villages, inflicting a damage of about 90 crore rupees to private properties.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">While 150 villages had been inundated, large tracts of agricultural land had been submerged with saline water following cyclone induced storm surges. Central Rice Research Institute and Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology have been asked to study the impact of salination on the forthcoming Kharif crop in the affected areas.  North Odisha districts like Baleswar and Bhadrak had been pounded by the very severe cyclonic storm Yaas on the 26th of last month.</span><br />
