In Odisha, the state administration is facing an uphill task in carrying out ancillary works for the 52,000 crore rupees Posco steel project near Paradip of Jagatsinghpur district. The civil and police personnel are preparing to resume work for the project in Naugaon and Noliasahi even as the local villagers and pro-project activists under the banner of the Joint Action Committee have been protesting the same. Wall construction, sand leveling, rehabilitation colony and trenching work have also been stopped for the last four days at Polanga also due to the resistance of the pro-Posco activists. They have been demanding fulfillment of their six-point charter of demands including proper rehabilitation for the families who have lost their lands, increased compensation and employment to at least one member from each family before beginning of the project work. The supporters of Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti, an anti-Posco body, also continued their agitation at the Gobindapur -Nuagaon border with a human barricade. They have been shielding the border to prevent police personnel and civil personnel from entering Dhinkia gram Panchayat for acquiring land.
