Odisha govt. begins 2nd round of negotiations with Maoists’ Interlocutors

In Odisha, the second round of negotiations between the interlocutors and the government for the release of abducted Malkangiri District Collector RV Krishna and Junior Engineer PM Majhi started this morning in Bhubaneshwar. A third mediator, social activist and trade union leader Dandapani Mohanty has also been roped-in the process as demanded by the Maoists. Odisha Home Secretary Upendra Nath Behera and Information and Public Releations Secretary Surendra Nath Tripathy are representing the state government in the talks.Home Secretary Behera said that the first round of discussion has been held in a very congenial atmosphere. He earlier said, that the Odisha government will not carry out combing operation till the talks are not over and similarly the Maoists have said, they will not take any action that could hamper the talks. He said, the mediators assured during the talks that Mr. Krishna and Mr. Majhi are safe and healthy.The mother and younger brother of abducted junior engineer had met the mediators yesterday seeking early release of Mr Majhi.
