Government has accepted two names proposed by the Maoists for negotiation on the release of abducted Malkangiri district magistrate R Veenyl Krishna and another person. Prof Har Gopal and Prof R Sureshwar Rao, on behalf of the red-ultras, have been invited to Bhubaneswar by the Odisha Government for negotiation over the demands put by the Maoists for release of the duo. The Odisha Government is making all arrangements for arrival of the negotiator.Meanwhile, the 48-hour deadline given by the Maoists came to an end on Friday evening at 5.30 with no news of the Malkangiri district magistrate and junior engineer Pabitra Majhi. In a letter sent to Malkangiri district administration on Friday evening, the Andra-Odisha Border South Zonal Committee which claimed the abduction has threatened to kill Krishna if security forces go ahead with combing operation in the villages of Malkangiri to trace the district magistrate and Majhi. The committee also asked the government to immediately free three of their leaders, Sudarshan, Padma and Gantiprasad.Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik and mediator from the Maoists Prof Har Gopal on Friday appealed to the maoists through All India Radio not to do any harm to Krishna and Majhi. The Chief Minister also appealed the Maoists to give more time to the administration to consider all their demands. The Odisha Government has stopped all combing operation across the state since Thursday as demanded by Maoists, while the rest four demands are yet to be met.Revolutionary writer and Maoists’ sympathizer from Andhra Pradesh Varavara Rao has once again appealed Maoists to release the abducted Malkangiri Collector and the other person. Stating that R. V. Krishna is known for striving for poor and tribals, he urged the Maoists to release them on humanitarian grounds immediately. Varavara Rao has been reportedly contacted by the Orissa Government for help to get the collector freed.
