In Odisha, a court has awarded death sentence to two persons for murdering a woman and her teenaged daughter in Nuapada district in February last year. The duo demanded 30,000 rupees from the woman and her daughter and attacked her family after she refused to pay them. While the woman died on the spot, her daughter succumbed to injuries later in hospital. This is the second death sentence awarded by courts in Odisha this month. A court in Sambalpur district of Odisha had awarded death to a man on 8th of this month for raping and murdering a girl.
