In Odisha, suspense continues over the release of abducted Malkangiri district magistrate and collector R Vineel Krishna. The 48-hour time taken by the Maoist appointed mediators, Prof G Haragopal, Prof R Someswar Rao and Dandapani Mohanty, to free Krishna from the clutches of Maoists is coming to an end this evening. The Maoists' fresh demand to release some top Maoist leaders including Sriramulu Srinivas, Padam, Iswari, Rosy Mandangi from jail in lieu of Malkangiri collector's release has complicated the situation. The mediators and Odisha Government have expressed shock over the fresh condition of the Maoists.Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has once again appealed the Maoists to free Malkangiri collector by today evening. He said the negoiators are discussing with the Odisha Government representatives, Home Secretary UN Behera and Information and Public Relations Secretary SN Tripathy over the fresh conditions put forwarded by the Maoists.Mediator Dandapani Mohanty said at Bhubaneswar that the Maoists have received the appeal made to release Krishna by today evening and a reply to this effect is awaited. The mediators have also sent a letter in Telugu to the Maoists stating the difficulties in meeting fresh conditions after the Odisha Government resolving all the 14 demands put forwarded by them.Meanwhile, top Maoist leader Ganti Prasadam, who got bail from Odisha High Court yesterday, has been shifted to Koraput jail from the Jharpada Special jail at Bhubaneswar last night amidst tight security. Maoists had been demanding his release too.
