In Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dropped five of his senior Cabinet colleagues and announced induction of nine new ministers. In a major political development, Naveen Patnaik asked Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghandei, Energy Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Tourism Minister Prafulla Samal, Labour Minister Puspendra Singh Deo and School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena to resign today morning. All of them have tendered their resignation papers to the chief minister. Naveen Patnaik also announced names of nine MLAs some of whom are former ministers, Dr Damodar Rout, Kalpataru Das, Bijoyshree Routray,Arun Sahu, Pratap Deb, Subrat Tarai, Rajanikanta Singh, Rabinarayan Nanda and Sarojini Hembram as his new members in the Cabinet. Theywill be swron in by Governor MC Bhandare at 2.15 this afternoon.This is the second reshuffle by Naveen Patnaik in his thir successive tenure as Chief Minister. He reshuffled his Cabinet on 10th of Maylast year. All the ministers who have been asked to resign are said to be followers of suspended BJD Parliamentary Party leader in Rajya Sabha,Pyari Mohan Mohapatra. Pyari Mohan Mohapatra had recently told media persons that the Chief Minister had to go if his followers are sacked.Earlier, Naveen Patnaik had sacked three ministers for allegedly supporting Pyari Mohan Moahaptra to dislodge his government on 29th of May this year.
