Odisha is celebrating 84 years of its foundation. The day is also known as 'Utkal Divas.' To commemorate the sacrifices of people for the formation of Odisha province in 1936, programmes are being organised at various places across the State.<br />''<br />'' Odisha was the first State to be formed on linguistic basis in 1936. Earlier, Odisha was part of Bihar. The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has greeted the people of Odisha on the auspicious occasion of Odisha Day.<br />''<br />'' President, Vice President and Prime Minister have greeted&nbsp; the people of Odisha on the occasion of statehood day, Utkal Diwas. In a tweet, President Ram Nath Kovind conveyed his best wishes to the state for a bright, prosperous and peaceful future.<br />''<br />'' Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said, Odisha has a rich and glorious history and it is well known for its cultural diversity and natural beauty. He hoped that the state and its people will continue to prosper and thrive.<br />''<br />'' In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, people of Odisha are known for their honesty and simplicity. He said, courageous and talented people of Odisha have contributed immensely to the nation. He also prayed for speedy progress of the state.<br />
