Odisha Assembly urges ultras to free Malkangiri captives

As the extended deadline set by Maoists to meet their demand for the release of Malkangiri District Magistrate and Collector R Vineel Krishna and junior engineer Pabitra Mohan Majhi ends this evening, the Odisha Assembly has urged the ultras to free the duo early. Expressing concern over the development, the Assembly passed a resolution asking the Maoists not to harm the hostages.Andhra-Orissa Boarder Special Zone Committee secretary Bhaskar has also appealed to the Maoists to extend deadline further as the process of talks between Government and Maoists has begun. A member of the committee told All India Radio, Hyderabad that Bhaskar has also demanded immediate response from the Odissa Government.The two emissaries including Haragopal and Someswar Rao to mediate with the ultras are leaving Hyderabad tomorrow for talks. A final decision is yet to be made on the third name.
