Odisha's Minister for Agriculture, Cooperation, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Dr Damodar Rout, resigned from the Cabinet today as asked by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Dr Rout, a senior member of the BJD Government, told All India Radio, at Bhubaneswar that he was not aware of the reason for being asked to resign. AIR correspondent reports, after the resignation of Dr Rout, a number of portfolios in the 25-month-old Naveen Patnaik Government are lying vacant.Earlier this year, Pramila Malick, who was in-charge of Women and Child Development, had to resign following allegations of her involvement in the multi-crore pulse (dal) cam. Highly placed sources said, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik might go for reshuffle his Cabinet tomorrow.
