In Odisha, release of abducted BJD MLA Jhina Hikaka and Italian national Paolo Bosusco from clutches of Maoists continues to remain in suspense. In a latest audio message, Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda, holding the Italian national, has said that the Odisha State Committe of CPI (Maoists) is yet to receive the agreement on 13-point charter of demands made between the Odisha Government representatives and Maoist-appointed mediators. He welcomed the move of the Odisha Government to release 5 prisoners, though their demand was to release 7 prisoners. Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda is reportedly ready to release abducted Italian Paolo Bosusco through ‘democratic means’. Maoists’ ‘democratic means’ imply the Italian would be first produced before a ‘people’s court’ before being set free.Meanwhile, there is no communication from the Andhra Odisha Border Spcial Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoists) which is holding the BJD MLA in its captivity. The State Government has once again appealed the Maoists to set free the two hostages immediately on humanitarian grounds.
