The country's industrial production grew an impressive 9.8 per cent, year-on-year, in October this year, compared to a contraction of 2.7 in October last year. According to data from the Central Statistics Office, industrial output growth for September this year has been revised upwards to 3.8 per cent. Manufacturing output surged 10.6 percent in October, mining sector output rose 4.7 percent, and electricity generation increased 9 percent. Capital goods production jumped 16.1 percent in October. Consumer durables output zoomed 42.2 percent, consumer non-durables output rose 4.7 percent, and the overall growth in consumer goods was a hefty 18.4 percent during the month.
