Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has said, it is obligatory for all parties to get essential business transacted as speedily and smoothly as possible in the brief Winter Session of Parliament. Talking to reporters outside Parliament today, Dr Singh said, the government will make efforts to evolve a broadbased consensus on all matters of legislative importance. On the Women's Reservation Bill, he said, the government will try to arrive at a consensus and seek support of all the parties.

The Winter session of Parliament begins today. 38 bills, including the Lokpal, Women's Reservation, Telangana and Street Vendors Bills, are slated for passage during the session which will conclude on the 20th of this month.
