Obama stands firm on CIA prisoner abuse probe

US President Barack Obama has rejected an appeal from the seven former directors of the CIA to abandon an investigation into allegation of prisoner abuses under the Bush Administration. The former chiefs have argued that the Justice Department risked discouraging CIA officers from undertaking the kind of aggressive intelligence work needed to fight terrorism. But, in a television interview, President Obama said, nobody was above the law and he does not over-rule prosecutors who were there to uphold the law. <br/>
