US President Barack Obama has said that terrorists' safe havens in Pakistan require more than a military solution.
Addressing a joint press conference with the visiting Afghan President, Hamid Karzai in Washington, Obama said Islamabad has a crucial role to play in bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan.
He said the United States and Pakistan have an interest in reducing the threat of terrorism in the border regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan and that's going to require more than military actions.
In a joint statement, the two leaders, noted that restoration of lasting peace in the trouble-torn region is not possible without the terrorist groups departing from terrorism.
President Karzai said that they agreed upon holding talks with the Taliban and for opening a Taliban representative office be opened in Qatar.
Earlier the two leaders had three round of meetings including a one-on-one in the Oval Office.
