US President Barack Obama has ended a two-decade-old 'wet foot, dry foot' policy that allows only Cuban migrants who arrive in the US without a visa to become permanent residents. <br/><br/>The move is likely to be one of the final foreign policy decisions of Obama's term and it terminates decades long policy that many argued amounted to preferential treatment for a single group of migrants. <br/><br/>Obama in a statement yesterday said, by taking this step, the US are treating Cuban migrants the same way we treat migrants from other countries. The 'wet foot, dry foot' policy mostly allows Cubans who reach US soil to stay in the country. Those caught at sea are returned to Cuba.<br/>
