President Barack Obama is in Shanghai for his first Presidential visit to China, the latest stage of his Asian tour. He is due to hold debate with young people there on Monday before moving on to Beijing for talks with Chinese leaders. His visit comes amid growing tensions between the US and China over trade. An import ban on Chinese made items like tiles and steel pipes has been heavily criticised as protectionism. China also holds the United States largely responsible for the global financial crisis. Beijing has warned America to be more fiscally responsible. China is the world's largest holder of US Government debt. According to recent survey, half of the countries still view the US unfavourably. Many of the Chinese believe that the US is attempting to prevent China’s rise to super power status.
